Lots of things are happening at the park. Soccer begins the middle of April with over 260 kids signed up to play. Wow! We are in the process of completing the last phase of the sprinkling system for the soccer fields which should be completed in time for the games. The sprinkling system has made a big difference and kept the fields’ green and growing during all their use. Two more dugouts are being constructed at the park to be completed in May.
Late last summer Ryan High, a local Bridgman student, volunteered to increase our disc golf course by another 9 holes. He undertook this project to earn his rank of Eagle Scout. Thanks Ryan and all your volunteer friends for enlarging our course. Lake Township Park is now registered with Disc Golf Michigan and you can expect to see many golfers out there using the course.
The calendar is filling up with reservations to use the Pavilions at the Park, so if you are planning an event and want to use the park, you might want to call for a date.
Last year, Nancy Mensinger, a member of the Park Committee, planted many beautiful flowers at the park. The butterfly bushes are growing and attracting a lot of butterflies. Tulips and daffodils were planted in hopes of having some early blooms at the Park. Unfortunately, the blooms were all picked as they were opening up before anyone could enjoy them. We ask that you please NOT PICK THE FLOWERS so everyone can enjoy the color.
We plan to have our Fall Festival again in September and hope everyone will mark their calendar and come on out September 18, 2010 for a day of fun, seeing friends and neighbors, and participating in all the planned events. More information to come later.
Arthritis Walk

Registration and festivities begin at 8:00 a.m., and the Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. Lake Township Park at 10801 Gast Road is the departure and return point for this event; participants have a choice of a one or three-mile walk route. Although there is no registration fee, the Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter challenges each walker to raise $100.00. Money raised from the Arthritis Walk will fund Arthritis research and hundreds of programs and services that help people improve their quality of life. While many in the community walk for fun and support, participants are welcome to walk in honor of someone they know with Arthritis. Additionally, honorees with Arthritis lead the way, wearing special blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition.
