Notes from the Clerk's Desk...
A new Michigan Appeals Court Ruling, MCL 168.759 (5), no longer allows the mailing of absent voter ballot applications to everyone age 60 years or older. If you wish to have an absent voter ballot mailed to you, you must request it in writing to Gloria Payne, Lake Charter Township Clerk, P.O. Box 818, Bridgman, Michigan 49106. You will then be placed on the permanent absent voter registration list and one will be mailed to you for each and every election after you submit your request in writing. The absentee Application is posted on this website.

If you vote in person, you are required to bring your photo identification with you to the polls. If you do not wish to produce your photo ID, you may fill out an affidavit form. One will be provided for you on election day.

If you would like to check and see if you are registered, please visit the following website: www.michigan.gov/vote. Or you may download the application to vote from here: Michigan Voter Registration Form

You may also register at any Secretary of State's office or locally with Lake Charter Township Hall.

The last day to register for the August 5, 2008 is July 7, 2008.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on August 5, 2008.
