Covid-19 Information

We are pleased to announce we are again open to the public, effective February 10th. Masks are required, please social distance, and no more than 10 people inside at a time. If you have a temperature, are not feeling well, or have been in contact with someone who has Covid 19, please do not use the office. Drop boxes will continue to be monitored at least daily if you prefer not to come in. Appointments can be made with officials by phone. Thank you for your patience during this difficult time. Stay healthy!


Beginning June 1, 2021, Lake Charter Township will resume applying the 10% late penalty to water and sewer bills.

A huge thank you to the Bridgman High School Key Club and the Kiwanis Club of St Joseph for your help with repainting several pieces of the playground equipment and the benches at the park. It looks great!

Dates for the 2021 Berrien County Community Recycling Events have been set! These will be for items such as household chemicals, electronics, foam, and document shredding. These events are for Berrien County residential materials only, not business waste. Please see this flier for more information.

The Township has hired a new building/zoning administrator. His name is Rich Kubsch and he will be replacing Jim Gast. Congratulations to Jim on his retirement and thanks for his many years of dedicated service to the Township. Trash/Recycling. The 2021 recycling calendar is available. Visit the Trash/Recycling page under the services tab for more details.

Lake Township Park - The park is open! Prior to that the off season lot is available for access. We look forward to another great season and are hopeful things can begin to return to normal. All Covid-19 mandates and restrictions in force must be met while in the park. The softball field fencing project is being completed by April 1st. Sinks will be installed in the north and south pavilions this spring. Projects are moving forward.

Online Payments - We are please to announce our online payment system has been upgraded adding many great enhancements. 2020 Taxes - All 2020 and prior years taxes must be paid to the Berrien County Treasurer’s office. We can not accept payments at the Township.  Please contact them at 269-983-7111 for the amount due and payment instructions.

Water Department Testing - We are blessed to have great water at very reasonable prices. Check out the latest testing results on the Water page or by using this link.
